Summary of Project
Santos GLNG is a pioneering venture that produces natural gas from Queensland’s coal seams and converts it into liquefied natural gas (LNG) for sale to world markets. The marine crossing component of the 420 km pipeline includes a 4.3 km long segmentally lined tunnel, beneath the ocean bed, with a 42 inch high pressure gas transmission pipeline thrust through the tunnel to convey gas from the mainland to the Curtis Island liquefaction plant.
When fully operational, Santos GLNG will have the capacity to produce 7.8 million tonnes of LNG each year. Royalties from the sales of LNG and the creation of new jobs during operation will provide long term benefits for the Australian economy.
Summary of Involvement
Dreise Tucker ATOL Pty Ltd adopted an integrated delivery team model with the client for the owner’s team engineering, procurement and construction delivery of the marine crossing. This included owner’s engineering with checking of various pipeline infrastructure including the pipeline and facilities, the marine crossing tunnel and temporary civil infrastructure, and the pipeline operations centre building. To deliver the works, our team deployed cost, project, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, maritime and civil engineering services.
